No Luck in Las Vegas

Jimmie Johnson is having early-season problems

When you get to be as good as Jimmie Johnson, expectations can get to be a little ridiculous.  J.J., the 3-time defending Sprint Cup points champion, hasn't won in three races and it's almost shocking.

Johnson led several laps in Las Vegas on Sunday, but a bad pit stop (he overshot his area and fell a lap down) and a late wreck (he lost control on a slippery section of turn two with six laps left) left him in 24th place.  The El Cajon native is 29th in the overall points standings after three races, not insurmountable but not the kind of start he was hoping for.

He wasn't the only star to have troubles.  Matt Kenseth, who was trying to become the first driver in history to win the first three races of the season, blew an engine on lap seven and finished dead last.

The day belonged to Vegas native Kyle Busch.  The 23-year-old won for the first time on his home track.  Jeff Gordon had another strong day to take over the overall points lead.
