Mexico-Guatemala Soccer Game Scoreless

Despite a huge edge in shots, Mexico didn't score and ended its friendly rivalry with Guatemala in a scoreless tie on Sunday.

Mexico, fielding a young and inexperienced team, played a lackluster first half before coming out strong in the final 45 minutes. Although the Mexicans applied tremendous pressure on goalkeeper Ricardo Trigueno in the second half, they couldn't beat him.

El Tri is 17-1-6 against its neighbor to the southeast.

The second half was played almost exclusively in Mexico's offensive end as they managed six shots on goal. Guatemala, which had just one shot on goal in the first half, was held without one in the second half.

Thousands of fans attended Sunday's game at Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley.
