Hoffman Doesn't Pitch Against Padres

It was a chance for Trevor Hoffman to face the Padres for the first time as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers, but instead turned into just another Cactus League game with the Padres edging Milwaukee 4-3.

Hoffman, who signed with the Brewers as a free agent this winter, is scheduled to pitch tomorrow against the Colorado Rockies. He chose to miss his last scheduled appearance for another bullpen session. Baseball's all-time saves leader even took out a newspaper ad recently to thank the fans of San Diego, and others involved in making his career here successful.  Facing his former team will be a big deal, even if it happens in spring training.

Emil Brown belted a three-run, first inning home run for the Padres on Monday.   Josh Geer started, and worked two solid innings. Ceasar Ramos got the win in relief.

The Padres host the Dodgers in Peoria on Tuesday with Chris young scheduled to make his second start this spring.
