Giants Blank Padres 6-0

Padres starter Eric Stults (1-3) gave up two solo home runs in the first ten pitches he threw. Pitch number three of the night was deposited in the left field bleachers by Angel Pagan. Buster Posey hit pitch number ten into the center field stands. Just like that it was 2-0 Giants. They added three runs in the third and coasted from there for a 6-0 win.

Matt Cain was scheduled to start for San Francisco, but was a late scratch after cutting the right tip of his throwing finger in a clubhouse mishap. It really didn't matter. Yusmeiro Petit (2-1) pitched in Cain's place and threw well. He allowed just three hits in six innings of work for his second win of the year.

The final game of the series at AT&T Park is Wednesday night. Robbie Erlin is scheduled to pitch for the Padres.
