Can't let go of winter? Bored with the June Gloom? Then grab your board or your skis and head for Mammoth.
The monster Central California ski resort will be open through June 14 - at least June 14 - maybe longer. Believe it or not, it's snowing up there; as much as a half a foot by the end of the weekend.
Mammoth Mtn. is located on Highway 395. With the roads nice and clear you could make it in 5-6 hours depending on how you drive.
They have a number of lifts operating each day until early afternoon with a couple of feet of packed powder at the bottom of the mountain and nearly ten feet still sitting up on top. Prices are discounted, plus you'll never have to wait in line because, face it, there just aren't that many people still in the "downhill mood".
