Aztecs Win Third Straight

SDSU continues offensive resurgence

Either the Aztecs figured out what was ailing them or they’re just playing a lower level of competition. Probably a little bit of both but mostly the former. Whatever it is, San Diego State is suddenly playing up to the level most people expected of them before the season started.

SDSU stayed perfect in Mountain West Conference play (3-0) with a 77-62 win over San Jose State on Wednesday night at Viejas Arena. The Aztecs suddenly potent offense had four players score in double-figures.

Freshman point guard Jeremy Hemsley led the way with 20 points. Fellow freshman Zylan Cheatham added 17, as did senior forward Winston Shepard, who also had six assists and five rebounds in what’s probably his most complete game of the season.

SDSU gets a week to prepare for their next game, a trip to Fort Collins to face Colorado State next Wednesday.
