Aztecs Bow Out of Dance

11th seeded San Diego State Aztecs lose to Tennessee 62 - 59

San Diego State University's men's basketball season came to an end Thursday night in a down to the wire game against the Tennessee Volunteers.

The Aztecs trailed 62 - 59 with seven seconds left and one last chance to force overtime, but the three point attempt by Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year Kawhi Leonard was no good and the 6th seeded Volunteers escaped with the win.

Junior point guard D.J. Gay led the Aztecs in scoring with 16 points, but the team couldn't hit three point shots and finished just 3 of 18 beyond the arc.  The Vols hit several critical 3-pointers and made about half of their shots from long distance.

This was the 6th NCAA tournament appearance in San Diego State's history and the 6th time they've been sent home without a win.

The good news for Aztec fans:  Most of the team will remain in tact with all 5 starters returning next season.  Steve Fisher's team is expected to be one of the best teams in the Mountain West.
