Weekly San Diego Sports Preview

Here’s a look at what is going on in San Diego sports for the week of May 1st-7th.

PADRES: The Friars are home where they’ll play against a familiar face. Tuesday-Thursday former Padres manager Bud Black comes back to Petco Park with Colorado Rockies. After that the San Francisco Giants head downtown for a three-game weekend series. Friday is First Responder Salute night, Saturday there will be postgame fireworks and Sunday is Compadres Kids Signings.

GULLS: The Gulls continue the opening round of the Calder Cup Playoffs against Ontario. Monday they head to Ontario for game four, game five-if needed-is Tuesday at the Valley View Casino Center. Puck drops at 7 p.m. both nights.

UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO TOREROS:

-BASEBALL: Tuesday vs. Long Beach 6 p.m. at Fowler Park, Friday-Sunday at Saint Mary’s.

-WOMEN’S TRACK: Saturday at the Occidental College Invite in Los Angeles all day.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SAN DIEGO TRITONS:

-MEN’S TENNIS: Monday at the NCAA Championships at Azusa Pacific 1p.m.

-TRACK & FIELD: Thursday and Saturday at the CCAA Championships in Chico.

-BASEBALL: Thursday and Friday at Cal State San Bernardino 3 p.m. and Saturday vs. Cal State San Bernardino 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at UCSD.

SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY AZTECS:

-BASEBALL: Tuesday at UCLA 6 p.m., Friday at San Jose State 7 p.m., Saturday at San Jose State 4 p.m. and Sunday at San Jose State 1 p.m.

-SOFTBALL: Friday and Saturday vs. UNLV 6 p.m. and Sunday vs. UNLV 12 p.m. all at SDSU Softball Stadium.

-WOMEN’S TRACK: Saturday at Oxy Invite in Los Angeles all day.

POINT LOMA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY SEA LIONS:

-TRACK: Saturday at Oxy Last Chance Meet at Occidental College.
