Vandalism or Prank? District Investigates Graffiti at Serra High School

Someone used spray paint to mark Serra HS with "PHHS"

The San Diego Unified School District has detained three teenagers who officials say admitted to spray painting "Patrick Henry Patriots" on the campus of rival Serra High School.

The graffiti was left on a doorway of a Serra High building and the letters PHHS were painted on a wall

The photos were then posted on Twitter.

District officials said principals of both schools met Thursday morning along with leaders from both student bodies.

SDUSD spokeswoman Ursula Kroemer said the three students involved are "extremely apologetic for their actions." They will be going to Serra HS to apologize for what happened.

"Whether intended as a prank or intentionally disparaging, it is not acceptable," said district spokesperson Ursula Kroemer.

She added that leaders of both schools believe "the β€˜rivalry’ between the schools is and will remain a friendly one."

Student leaders met Thursday and created posters showing the unity between the two schools.
