Fallbrook Cracks Down on Underage Alcohol

Minor decoys tested alcohol compliance

In response to alcohol-related crime and citizen complaints, Fallbrook authorities recently took action, busting multiple businees for selling to minors during a random establishment testing.

On Feb. 18 and Feb. 25, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Fallbrook Community Oriented Policing and Problem SolvingUnit and members of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control conducted two "Minor Decoy" and undercover alcohol enforcement operations.

Officers sent minors in and instructed them to try to purchase alcohol. They were told to present their actual Ids that showed they were underage, if asked for identification.

Happy Jug Liquor at 143 Ammunition Rd, Major Market at 845 S Main Ave, Walgreens at 1285 S Mission Rd, and the Village Market and Liquor at 1510 S Mission Rd were among those establishments that did not prevent the sale of alcohol to a minor.

The Village Spirit Shop, 502 S. Main Ave, was cited for the sale of alcohol to a minor. A 20-year-old male, who was not a part of the operation, made an alcohol purchase and was subsequently arrested for underage alcohol possession.
