Suspect Arrested After SDSU Pursuit

Man ran at least 6 miles before police located and arrested him, according to police reports

A man was arrested late Tuesday night in North Park after allegedly fleeing from police in a stolen car and then running several miles on foot, authorities said.

Police attempted to pull over a stolen car near I-8 and Fairmount Avenue near San Diego State University at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to university police.

Officers chased the car onto the westbound I-8 to the southbound I-805. The driver exited on University Avenue in North Park, then headed south on Boundary Street.

At that point, at least one person jumped out of the car and fled on foot. It is unclear whether that person was the suspect or a passenger.

The individual fled onto the 2200 block of Montclair Street.

After a search of the area on foot and in the air, police located suspect Daniel Hubbard near Montezuma Road and 55th Street -- at least 6 miles away from where he fled -- and arrested him.

Hubbard faces charges of felony evading and possession of a stolen car. University police said he is not an SDSU student.
