Stolen Car Pursuit Ends in Crash

Police said the suspect being pursued was driving a stolen Toyota Camry in Chula Vista

A driver in a stolen Toyota Camry crashed into another car while being pursued by police in Chula Vista Friday evening.

Police said an officer attempted to pull over the stolen Camry just before 5:30 p.m. at Naples Street and Hilltop Drive.

When the Camry didn’t stop, a pursuit ensued, with the vehicle accelerating to upwards of 90 mph, according to police.

After a few blocks, the driver of the Camry slowed down to about 30 mph and then sides-swiped a Cadillac Escalade.

According to authorities, an 11-year-old passenger in the Escalade was transported to a local hospital after the collision. The child didn’t sustain any visible injuries but was complaining of pain, police said.

Three people in the stolen Camry were arrested at the scene for felony evading.

No information has been released regarding the identity of the driver of the stolen vehicle.
