A 12-inch cast iron pipe ruptured Monday night at the corner of Mollison and Madison Avenues in El Cajon creating a large sinkhole in the road.
The break, which happened around 6:30 p.m., did not cause any property damage.
Crews worked through the night to repair the pipe. It’s fixed but the street was still closed Tuesday morning as crews worked to repair a sinkhole created by the break as well as other cracks in the road.
They hope to be done with all the work by 10 a.m.
