Suspect Apprehended; Lockdown Lifted at SDSU

Officials lifted a lockdown at San Diego State University (SDSU) after a suspected armed suspect was taken into custody. 

The incident began at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when San Diego Police officers tried to stop a car on the westbound Interstate 8 at College Avenue. 

The suspect fled from officers, they said. 

Police said the suspect may have been armed with a handgun. California Highway Patrol officers and police searched the area to find him. They took a suspect into custody near the College Avenue ramp. 

SDSU lifted their lockdown around 11 a.m. SDSU Children's Center and residence halls were briefly locked down as well.

No further information was immediately available.
