Man Stabbed Outside Rancho Bernardo Eatery

A late-night confrontation outside a restaurant in Rancho Bernardo ended with a man getting stabbed in the stomach, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) said.

At around 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, a man in his 20s got into an argument with a group of five men near Jersey Mike's Subs on the 15800 block of Bernardo Center Drive. As the altercation escalated, police said one of the men in the group pulled out a knife and stabbed the lone victim.

The stabbing suspect and the group then fled in a white Mercedes last seen driving northbound.
Police said the suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s, about 5-foot-8 with a heavy build. He wore a red hat and had a “SD” tattoo on his right arm.

No other injuries were reported. Police said the victim’s wound was non-life threatening and he is expected to recover.
