Police Chiefs Get Look at Cop Car of Future

More than 15,000 delegates are in San Diego to take part in the International Association of Chiefs of Police convention -- and to take a look at all the latest technology.

the Carbon E7 -- "the world's first purpose built law enforcement vehicle," according to its creators -- is expected to be the biggest attraction at the convention. The car was designed to provide officers with heightened security as they work, Carbon Motors said. The car has a built-in internal surveillance system, radar, automatic license plate recognition system and radiation and biological threat detectors.

Hundreds of other high-tech exhibitors will be at the convention center as well, in addition to the convention's scheduled speakers, including U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey and FBI Director Robert S. Muller. They are both expected to address convention-goers on Monday morning

The IACP, with more than 20,000 members in 89 countries, is the world's largest nonprofit organization of police executives.
