Poisonous Meatballs Meant For Dogs: Deputies

A Ramona man, angry over complaints from neighbors that he had too many cats in his apartment, is in jail for allegedly trying to poison his neighbors dogs.

Ramona deputies responded to an apartment complex at 121 Ramona Street after receiving calls about an irate tenant, 46-year-old Gerald Parry, throwing meatballs laced with rat poison. Parry was seen by witnesses going into the dog-run area of the complex and placing large objects along the dog path.

He apparently wanted the complex management to enforce rules on other tenants for having large dogs on the premise.Deputies checked the area and found several large meatballs which appeared to have been mixed with a solid poisonous substance.

Parry had made previous threats to tenants that he was going to kill dogs in the complex. He faces counts on suspicion of cruelty to animals, putting hazardous substances on another persons land and exposing poison to animals, according to records at the Central Detention Facility in San Diego.

Parry's bail was set at $50,500 and he is scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
