A 35-year-old man was shot in the hip in North Park near a busy restaurant Thursday afternoon, police said.
The shooting happened just before 5:15 p.m. when a car pulled up to the victim on the 4100 block of Utah Street near the busy 30th Street corridor, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.
An argument broke out between the victim and the people in the car when the front passenger shot the man in the arm and buttocks, Heims said.
The car then fled southbound on Utah Street, he said.
The victim was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest with non-life-threatening wounds, Heims said.
"This neighborhood is a very nice neighborhood and that's why we moved here," one witness who didn't want to be named said. "And when there's one bad apple, they're very noticeable. You can pick them out of everybody."
The motive for the shooting was unknown and there was no description of the shooter.
