Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley

CHP dispatchers received multiple calls from passing drivers. Some reported the man may have fallen out of a moving vehicle.

A pedestrian suffered major injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed.

The incident happened at approximately 10:17 p.m. on the eastbound Interstate 8, just east of the Interstate 805.

CHP investigators said the person was walking on the transition road from I-805 to eastbound I-8 when a Nissan Sentra struck the man.

Another driver slowed down to avoid crashing into the Nissan but was struck by a third vehicle.

A nurse was driving along when he spotted the pedestrian in the roadway.

Brian San Miguel said he pulled over and tried to help the victim before emergency crews arrived.

No drivers were injured and no arrests were made. The incident is still under investigation.
