A man riding a dockless bicycle was injured in a hit-and-run Saturday evening while walking down a busy street in Chollas View, police said.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of 47th Street near state Route 94, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.

The driver took off after hitting the man, he said.

The 37-year-old victim was transported to the hospital with major head injuries and a broken jaw, police said. The injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

No suspect or car description was available at this time, Buttle said.

Forty-Seventh Street was shut down from Hilltop Drive and C Street until at least 11 p.m. for the investigation, police said.
