A man killed by a hit and run driver in National City has been identified, the Medical Examiner's officer said Sunday.

Ventura Madragal, 79, had just finished having dinner Friday night at a family restaurant on Highland Avenue when it happened. It appears the Chula Vista resident was trying to cross in the cross walk when he was hit by a driver headed south on Highland, police said. The driver didn't stop.
" The vehicle fled the scene before we got here, but witnesses describe an SUV type vehicle, dark blue or green in color," Sgt. Graham Young said.
Madragal was pronounced dead at the scene.
A manhunt was still underway for the driver Sunday. If you have any information, you are urged to call police.
