Gathering Held for Slain Escondido Woman

Community organizers also discussed solutions to violence

Community organizers gathered at the First United Methodist Church of Escondido early Thursday evening to honor recently deceased 20-year-old Morayma Denise Rodriguez and her family, reports our media partner, the North County Times.

Rodriguez was found Feb. 1 shot to death off of Lawrence Welk Court north of Escondido, according to authorities.

The Escondido resident's death also prompted organizers to brainstorm solutions to violence at the gathering, which was hosted by a community group called DOVE.

The group, which includes residents, city staff and members of the faith community, was developed by the Community Alliance for Escondido.
