A man was struck and killed by a Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus in El Cajon Thursday.
The man in his 50s stepped from between two cars onto E. Madison Avenue near Walter Way, where he was struck by an oncoming MTS bus at about 5:20 a.m., the El Cajon Police Department (ECPD) said.
Paramedics were called and immediately began CPR on the injured man. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died, ECPD said.
His name would not be released until family could be notified.
Police said the bus driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.
Both ECPD and MTS officials were investigating the collision.
For a time, eastbound traffic on E. Madison Avenue from Second Street to Walter Way was closed during the investigation. Lanes have since reopened.
