Three kids were rescued and five people displaced after a third floor apartment fire in Normal Heights Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 4:29 p.m. on the third floor of an apartment complex located at 4720 Hawley Road, San Diego Fire-Rescue (SDFD) Capt. Amador said. Crews knocked down the fire just after 5 p.m.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the top of the three-story building.
The San Diego Red Cross is helping those displaced.
Some residents were evacuated, though others stayed in place.
No other information was immediately available.
