A local man has one million reasons to be thankful.
The Ronald McDonald House of San Diego awarded Amado Evangelista, Jr. $1 million as part of their annual Dream House Raffle fundraiser.
"You won the grand prize, Ronald McDonald cheered. Yayyy! Congratulations!"
The Ronald McDonald team was waiting at Evangelista's home on Sunday when he returned from from a trip to the grocery store.
The 58-year-old Mira Mesa man says the last few months have been rough, so this was welcomed news.
"My house has been foreclosed, so I told myself, maybe I'll get lucky, Evangelista said. "I had bad luck, I get foreclosed, now I get good luck."
Evangelista also recently went on disability because of tendinitis in his feet.
The charity sold tickets for a chance to win a nearly $2 million home as part its annual fundraiser. The drawing had one stipulation, if fewer than 34,000 tickets were sold, the winner would be awarded a $1 million prize payout.
The quota wasn't met so Evangelista took home the cash prize.
