Thousands will graduate around San Diego this weekend.

San Diego State University starts its commencement ceremonies Friday morning and goes though Sunday. More than 10,000 students will be graduating from the school this year.

At 11 a.m., the College of Health and Human Services get things kicked off at Viejas Arena. In the afternoon, around 4 p.m., the College of Arts and Letters Ceremony will take place.

On Friday, more than 1,400 students will graduate from Southwestern College and more than 600 will participate in the college’s 49th annual commencement ceremony, themed We Are What’s Next. The ceremony will feature student speakers and singers, as well as remarks by honorary degree recipient Serge Dedina, Ph.D., Executive Director of WiLDCOAST, an environmental awareness group.
