Similar Crimes, Different Victims

Three women were violently attacked in different parts of San Diego all within 14 hours.

The first case happened Tuesday night. A woman, 39, was sexually assaulted around 10 o'clock at San Diego City College. Officers  said the suspect punched the victim's face and tore off her clothing. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail for assaulting the woman and violating his parole.

On Wednesday at 4 a.m., investigators say a woman, 22, was assaulted in her La Jolla residence. Two men were arrested nearby for sexual assault with a foreign object and first-degree burglary.

Then Wednesday afternoon, a woman, 32, was walking on a dirt trail in the Hillcrest area. Oโ€™Hanlon said the man wrestled her to the ground and threatened to cut her. He too was taken into custody, charged with attempted rape and possession of narcotics

Lt. Rick Oโ€™Hanlon with the San Diego Police Department said, โ€œIt's highly unusual to have three pretty egregious incidents, all sexual assaults in a very short time frame. I have been on 30 years and I can't recall something in this short a time span.โ€

โ€œWe will have to take a look at it, to see if there is something that we are not aware of. We are always looking to analyze incidents to see if we can police the community better," Oโ€™Hanlon said.

Police advise you to be aware of your surroundings, keep your doors locked and always walk with someone else when it's dark or if you're in an isolated area.
