Schwarzenegger Sets Rules on Staff Travel, Income

Gov. Schwarzenegger is imposing new rules for his administration in reporting travel, gifts and outside income a day after a cabinet member's resignation.

Legal Affairs Secretary Andrea Hoch is requiring agency lawyers to review the financial disclosure forms filed by members of the administration. The governor's office also is posting the disclosure forms and travel expenses of top employees on its Web site and individual agency Web sites.

Yesterday's directive came a day after the resignation of Rosario Marin, a former U.S. treasury secretary who headed Schwarzenegger's State and Consumer Services Agency.

Disclosure forms show Marin was paid at least $50,000 for speeches between April 2004 and the end of 2007, including fees paid by companies she regulates. Questions were raised earlier about her travel reimbursements.
