RB Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Hitting Marine

Woman faces three felony charges related to an alleged DUI hit and run

A 21-year-old woman suspected of a hit-and-run crash that left a decorated Marine on life support has pleaded not guilty.

The story was reported by our media partner, the North County Times.

Jessica Bloom is accused of Sunday's accident in Rancho Bernardo in which she allegedly drove drunk and hit Dave Smith from behind on his motorcycle.

Prosecutors say Bloom loaded her bumper into her SUV and drove off.

They also say Bloom's blood alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit.

Bloom's defense attorney claims she left the scene because she wanted to tell her husband, who is also a Marine, what happened.

Bloom faces a maximum of nine years in prison if convicted.
