One More Time Please

Couples renew their vows for Mother's Day

It was a day of love - love for Mom and for marriage as more than two dozen couples "re-tie" the knot by renewing their commitment to their marriages.  The renewal of vows was the brainchild of long-time local jeweler John Jacobs who vows to repeat the ceremony for Mother's Day again next year.

Called "Marry Me Again", the vow renewal took place in front of the fountain at Liberty Station at noon on Saturday.  Sponsored by KYXY Radio and the various businesses that make up the Liberty Station Marketplace (including Jacob's jewelry store, Jacobs & Spadea), the two hour event drew 32 couples, one of which had been married for 32 years, another a year longer.  The newlyweds of the group said their vows for the first time just three years ago.

The brides received flowers and all were serenaded by the Peninsula Singers and musician David Hauser.  As an added bonus, all the couple left with a bouquet of roses and a few with gifts worth a bit more.  There was a cruise, a strand of pearls and even a half-carat diamond.  Not bad considering the entire event cost the loving couples nothing more than two hours out of a Saturday afternoon.
