Motorcyclist Killed in Collision

A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle in Encinitas on Sunday, officials said.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on South Coast Highway 101 and K Street.

Officials said three male motorcyclists in their early 20s were traveling southbound in the 1200 block of South Coast Highway 101, staggered in their position in the first traffic lane.

That’s when a 69-year-old male driver of a Toyota Camry entered the intersection at K Street to make a left turn and collided with the man on the first motorcycle, officials said.

The motorcyclist died from his injuries at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

The driver was transported to Scripps Encinitas with non-life threatening injuries.

Police closed the road for several hours as officers conducted their investigation.
