Mayor Invites Locals to Help Shape City Parks

San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer is inviting locals to take part in the future of the city’s parks by attending informative workshops.

Mayor Faulconer said the sessions will outline ideas for the Parks Master Plan, a three-year developmental project for the city’s park and recreation system.

“We are in the middle of the largest park expansion in modern San Diego history and the Parks Master Plan will continue that momentum by setting the stage for the future of our world-class parks system,” Faulconer said.

A series of 10 workshops will take place from June 6th to the 27th to determine the county’s input about 40,000 acres of parkland.

Each two-hour session will ask for San Diegans’ opinions about existing park and recreation programs. The overall goals are to create funding strategies and outline usage opportunities.

Residents who are unable to attend the workshops are able to participate through an online survey found here. The city also sent over 13,000 surveys in the mail at random to San Diego residents.

The Parks Master Plan is expected to be complete in the fall of 2020.
