Injured Man Rescued from Storm Drain

Firefighters rescued a man from a storm drain 30 feet below ground in the Tijuana River Valley Wednesday. He was discovered by Border Patrol agents conducting a sweep of the drain.

The man believed to be in his 50's is a suspected illegal immigrant and suffered major trauma to his upper body and his head.

Fire officials say he was in and out of conciousness during the rescue and has sustained life threatening injuries. Agents said they don't know how he got the injuries. They speculated the injuries could have been from a fall or it could have been from a robbery.
