Friends Remember Boy Killed by Drunk Driver

Jordan Swineheart remembered with candlelight vigil

Family and friends gathered along Old Highway 80 in Flinn Springs Sunday to remember a little boy killed by a drunk driver one year ago.

Jordan Swineheart, 8, was killed May 10, 2008.  The driver, 58-year old Martin Bagby, pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter. The spot is marked by a memorial with his picture and a cross.

The crowd lit candles in Jordan's memory and remembered him as a good kid who made everybody laugh.

Jordan's mother, Cherie, also had an important message. She pleaded with people to not drink and drive. Swineheart also thanked Mothers Against Drunk Driving, "for all they've done and all the support they've given me to get through this year.  If it wasn't for them, I don't think  I could've."

Last week a judge ordered an evaluation to determine if Bagby should go to prison or put on felony probation.
