Explosives Found Outside Church

Bomb squads are investigating after a pastor in San Diego County found the remnants of at least two Molotov cocktails in a church parking lot.

Investigators from the sheriff's arson unit say the explosions took place at the Calvary Chapel Santee between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Two burn marks were found on the asphalt but damage was minimal.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Jan Caldwell says it's too early to know what motivated someone to place the explosives outside the church.

FBI officials say if the act was motivated by the religious nature of the property, it would be considered a hate crime and could carry a year in prison.
