Floor Heater Sparks Escondido House Fire

An Escondido homeowner was grateful no one was injured when a floor heater sparked a fire Wednesday morning.

Escondido police initially reported that explosions were heard from inside the one-story home at 134 West 7th Street just before 7 a.m.

The home’s owner said a sofa situated too close to a floor heater caught fire damaging the living room and other furniture.

The homeowner said the home’s main tenants appeared to have forgotten to turn off an automatic heater while they were away.

The tenant in a granny flat spotted the spoke and called 911.
No one was injured.

The home is located south of Grand Avenue and east of Centre City Parkway.
