Day-Care Operator Enters Plea in Molest Case

A man who ran a local daycare center with his wife pleaded not guilty today to child molestation charges.

Mark Kaczmarczyk, 58, is charged with four counts of child molestation and four counts of child abuse.

His wife, Anita Maria Kaczmarczyk. was arraigned last month. She also pleaded not guilty.
   
Police said children, some as young as a few months old, were molested at the daycare in Mission Valley between June and September 2007.

Kaczmarczyk was arrested in Taiwan extradited to California, according to a published report. He was arrested in Taipei, according to an official of Taiwan's Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Kaczmarczyk faces six charges of molestation at a day care center. He fled a $2 million bail in December 2007 when undertaking compulsory treatment for sexual harassment, according to the Taiwanese police.

Police tracked him down after the U.S. Federal Investigation Bureau informed them that Kaczmarczyk left Hong Kong for Taiwan in early January.

A mother of an alleged victim talked with a local television station, explaining that Kaczmarczyk ran a day care out of his Mission Valley apartment.

The woman, who was not identified in the article, claimed the service was called "Anita's Daycare" according to an article on the station's website.

An FBI spokesman spoke to the San Diego Union-Tribune about the case saying San Diego police investigated the original complaint against the couple and that the district attorney's office filed charges against Kaczmarcyzk. The FBI got involved after the suspect fled to Taiwan, according to the U-T.
