Welcome to the Future: iPads, Not Waiters

A new restaurant features a futuristic method of ordering food

Even the Jetsons would struggle to keep up with Stacked.

The new Fashion Valley Mall restaurant uses iPads for ordering instead of the tried and true—but so last century—human waiters.

Patrons build and order pizzas, burgers, salads and shakes using an application on the tables’ iPad. A waiter arrives later with the food.

“The iPad was a way to facilitate an experience of being able to create whatever our guests want because there are so many choices,” said cofounder of Stacked, Paul Motenko.

The application features image-based selections of food. Guests drag and drop the ingredients they want on the item of their choice.

Stacked opened Wednesday night at its mall location, located on 7007 Friars Road.
