Party with us at our next SoundDiego LIVE on Oct. 9 at Park & Rec!

If you didn't get enough live-music radness and Belching Beaver craft-beer freshness at our last SoundDiego LIVE party, we are cordially inviting you to get down with us at our next one, which takes over Park & Rec on Friday, Oct. 9!

Our monster bash will be hosted by beloved 91x radio host (and local music guru) Tim Pyles,  we’ve packed it with a hosted happy hour by one of the raddest craft brewers in town, Belching Beaver Brewery -- and we've tapped three of the best bands in the San Diego music scene to play: Quel Bordel, 9 Theory and the Bassics! If you're unfamiliar with any of the bands on the bill, you shouldn’t be -- they're all nominees for 2015 San Diego Music Awards!

"[Quel Bordel] are gypsy rock or gypsy punk rock -- take your pick," Pyles told us. "If you've ever seen Gogol Bordello, then you know what I'm talking about. It's frantic, it's fun, and it will make you move your feet. I will challenge anyone to a whirling dervish competition. Besides, they're nominated for a 2015 San Diego Music Award for Best World Music Album for their latest release, 'Caravan Treasures,' so you know it's excellent."

We're not the kind of folks to be content with just one style of music, either -- 9 Theory, the new project from Gabe Lehner (of Inspired Flight, and Metrofique), couldn't be more different. [Watch our SoundDiego Spotlight on the band here.]

"Lehner is a prolific artist," Pyles continued, "and his current project is a mix of electronic and hip-hop, so it's trip-hop by definition -- but may even remind you of Gorillaz-style production, and it definitely has an indie feel. Gabe has worked with artists Amp Live, Grouch & Eligh and Black Knights, and has done official remixes for such artists as Jason Mraz, Emancipator, Zion I and Beats Antique. And guess what? 9 Theory is up for Song of the Year at this year's SDMAs with 'At Home in the Dark.' "

In fact, if you take a look at the credits of 9 Theory's new album, "Against the Odds of Entropy," you'll see collaborations with Killer Mike (of Run the Jewels), Killah Priest (from Wu-Tang), Sophie Barker (of Zero 7) and Eligh and Scarub of Living Legends, among others. Can't beat that.

Last but definitely not least, we tapped the Bassics to open our party, and we aren’t the only ones in town raving about the band.

Pyles explained: "These boys from Imperial Beach are up for Best Alternative and Best New Artist at this year's San Diego Music Awards. A mix of power pop and mod rock, they're reminiscent of the Jam, the Who, Secret Affair, the Kinks and current bands like the Strypes or the Bohicas from the UK. They wear suits and look sharp! A must-see 'live' band for sure!"

Of course, a SoundDiego LIVE party wouldn't be complete without dishing out some happy hour freebies to folks that RSVP early! Belching Beaching Brewery will be our San Diego craft-beer brewing partner on Friday, and if you haven't had their award-winning beer, you'll finally have your chance to get some -- fo' free! And, of course, there will be some great noshing courtesy or our hosts at Park & Rec.

The party starts at 8:30 p.m., so show up early for some brews and bites, then Park & Rec will serve up all the great San Diego music you can handle.
