Legoland Is Live on Street View

The theme park in our own backyard makes Internet history.

Legoland California became the first U.S. theme park on Google Street View Tuesday.

To try it out yourself, go to Google maps, search for "Legoland California" and drag the orange 'Pegman' icon to start exploring.

Staff with Google Street View toured the Carlsbad park in May 2008. Using their equipment, they captured images and mapped out the park. They even rode some of the rides.

Tuesday’s launch is part of an effort by Google to bring Street View to tourist attractions and destinations around the world.

"It is absolutely thrilling for LegolandCalifornia to be part of this amazing new technology," Legoland GM Peter Ronchetti said in a news release. “Street View gives the viewer a vantage point that has never been available without actually being in the Park. I have no doubt this will be a valuable tool for families planning their visit."

Google Street View launched in May 2007 with just five U.S. cities and has since expanded to 200 cities around the world.

Legoland California celebrates its 10th birthday this year and features nearly 60 rides, shows and attractions geared specifically for families with children ages 2 to 12.
