A violent head-on crash near Poway killed a woman and sent four other people to the hospital with serious injuries. The two white pick-up trucks collided on Highway 67 just east of Mina de Oro Road around 2:30pm on Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of one of the trucks “lost control and went off to the shoulder, over corrected, went on the other side of the road and had a head on collision with another white pick-up truck,” Sergeant Lloyd Munzer said.
Both cars were totaled. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children that were in her truck were flown to Children's Hospital. Two adults from the other truck were taken by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center.
All four of the victims are expected to survive, Sergeant Lloyd Munzer said. The highway had to be closed for a couple hours for an investigation.
