In 1966, Chargers owner Barron Hilton (Yes, I will never get over the fact that his granddaughter is Paris) along with the other American Football League owners came together with the NFL to create -- the Super Bowl.
Barron Hilton founded the Los Angeles Chargers in 1960, moving it to San Diego in 1961. Hilton sold his majority ownership of the Chargers in 1966, after he became President and CEO of the Hilton Hotels Corporation. Hilton was told by his family that he had to discontinue his professional football responsibilities in order take over as CEO.
