Running is Electric With VAVi

This time, it's okay to sprint in the dark

Got glowsticks?

San Diegans will be running in the dark on Feb. 2 during the city's first Electric Run. The city's premiere social club VAVi is directing the event -- so it's bound to be a good time.

More than 11,000 participants will run the colorful 5K course at Del Mar Fairgrounds. Participants are encouraged to be a part of the show by lighting up with glowsticks, neon, LED lights and anything else that can light up.

One million watts of light and sound will decorate the fairgrounds, making it one of the most visually appealing courses to run in the county.

Not only will event goers have a good time, they'll be able to donate to a good cause. A portion of the proceeds will go toward the Boys & Girls Club's "Little Jumps...Big Changes" initiative, which focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Registration is $60 and more information can be found on the event website.
