New Restaurants to Try in January

Craving pizza or seafood? These new places have you covered

If you’ve got the winter blues, it’s time to venture out of your house and warm up at some of these hot new restaurants.

Roseville Cozinha
2750 Dewey Rd., Liberty Station
One of Liberty Station’s newest eateries specializes in two very different things: Seafood and pizza. But the unlikely pairing is definitely a new niche for San Diegans, so head over before its salty fare garners hour-long wait times.

The Blind Burro

639 J St., East Village
America’s Finest City is no stranger to good Mexican food, so it makes sense that East Village has added The Blind Burro to its collection of eclectic restaurants. The menu focuses on Baja-coastal cuisine in addition to dozens of delightful tequilas.

Urban Pi
2673 Via De La Valle, Del Mar
Pizza-lovers will be happy to know that “creative pizza” joint just joined the North County. Wood-fire grilled pies feature organic, local vegetables baked with a twist. If you’re holding on to your New Year’s resolutions, try the healthy-favorite “skinny pi.”

Spike Africa’s Fresh Fish Grill & Bar
411 Broadway Ave., Downtown
This seafood eatery occupies a key corner in downtown, so you won’t have a hard time finding it. Local beers are featured on tap, and craft brews are only $5 during happy hour (4-6 p.m. on weekdays).
