Veteran actor Daniel Von Bargen is in critical condition following a botched suicide attempt.

Veteran character actor Daniel Von Bargen, who famously played George Costanza's boss Mr. Kruger in the final season of "Seinfeld" and who also appeared in such films as "Super Troopers," "O Brother Where Art Thou?" and "The Silence of the Lambs," is in critical condition following a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

The 61-year-old actor called 911, saying, "I've shot myself in the head and I need help."

According to the rest of the call, a tape of which was obtained by TMZ, Von Bargen was apparently distraught about having to go to the hospital because he thought doctors were planning to "amputate at least a few toes" due to his diabetes.

Von Bargen lives just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio.
