Barbara Walters' Heart Surgery Called a Success

    TV talk queen Barbara Walters' underwent surgery to replace a leaky heart val and doctors said the operation was a success.

    The main host of ABC's "The View" is "recovering as expected" after having surgery to replace a faulty heart valve, a rep said in a statement.

    "[Her] surgery went well and the doctors are very pleased with the outcome," adds the rep.

    Walters, 80, announced that she was having the operation on Monday's show, judays before going under the knife. She said she kept news of the surgery a secret because "I thought it best not to talk about it too far in advance."

    Walters says she expected to be in recovery for a month to three months. "Since the summer is coming up," she said, "I can take a nice vacation."
