Sounds Like San Diego: Aug. 26

'80s icon Cyndi Lauper is still revered for both her talent and also her LGBTQ+ support

I've never really been big on Halloween, nor have I had any super memorable costumes over the years, but the one that does stand out is my Cyndi Lauper costume. I was in fourth grade and I remember my mom spraying temporary neon orange spray in my hair that, in reality, took several days to get out. Lauper was a massive '80s icon and today she is still revered for her talent as well as being a huge ally of the LGBTQ+ community. Tonight, she performs with another massive icon, Rod Stewart, at Mattress Firm Amphitheatre, and it is sure to be a most excellent show. Definitely plan ahead and get there early, because we've heard lots of complaints about the challenging parking and rideshare policies at the venue all season. Around town, Jared & the Mill return to the Casbah, Hard to Hit are at Soda Bar and Mochilero All Stars play at Bar Pink.
