Los Bunkers Arrive at ‘Speed of Light'

The Chilean quintet bring their lush vintage guitar rock to Tijuana's Black Box on Friday.

If you're a Los Bunkers fan, you're probably on the edge of your seat worrying if their upcoming show will get a last minute cancellation, thanks to last December's letdown when their show at House of Blues was cancelled. With the May release of their seventh studio album, La Velocidad de la Luz (or The Speed of Light), the popular Chilean alt-rock band are full speed ahead in promoting that new-new. And with that said, their highly anticipated show at Tijuana's Black Box will be happening.

In August, the quintet -- who is often compared to the Beatles -- kicked-off La Velocidad de la Luz tour, in Santiago, Chile, where they rocked the crowd of 10,000 at Movistar Arena. The ironic part, is Los Bunkers left their native Chile to reside in Mexico to take their music to the next level and to gain greater exposure. Their bets were on the mark because La Velocidad de la Luz is getting lots of love. This time around, Los Bunkers enlisted the finesse of two heavyweight producers, Café Tacvba's Emmanuel del Real, and Yamil Rezc, who has credits with Hello Seahorse!, Zoé and Julieta Venegas.

The debut single "Bailando Solo" went to No. 1 in Chile. Its music video has a whopping 4.7 million hits already and delightfully takes you back to the age of innocence similar to that early '90s TV show "The Wonder Years." Go ahead and listen to the entire La Velocidad de la Luz album on SoundCloud here
