Let's Dance, San Diego

Jazz, swing, big band, Dixieland, ragtime and hard bop. The speakeasy vibe is now in North Park, as the new Gatsby Nights hits the Office every Thursday. I've been meaning to check this out, and now it's every week ... bonus! DJs Sachamo and Erica J will be spinning a variety of music. Plus, this night will feature a live performance from Jazz Mannequin (aka Sex Mannequin), and the sultry Miss Dixie Von Trixie will be doing burlesque. As an added bonus, from 9-10 p.m., you can enjoy Charleston swing lessons from the Firehouse Swing dancers. Dress to impress 1920s style and don’t miss out on the fun.

Friday night, it's Supa Dupa at El Camino supplying you with disco, funk, house and boogie jams all night long. Mr. Biggs, Colour Vision, David Afterlife and Damn Juelz will be your DJs for the night. The event is hosted by Colour Vision and Mintphonic, and it's free before 11 p.m.

On Saturday, DJ Edgartronic spins at M-Theory starting at 5 p.m. as part of an in-store appearance from Alan Wilder of Recoil and Depeche Mode. This is going to be huge! Meet Alan and bring your vinyl, CDs, shirts and whatever else to be signed. The event will start with a dance-off, with the winner getting two tickets to see Recoil that night at Anthology. Meanwhile, Birthday shenanigans with yours truly will be in full effect at Club Sabbat at the Flame in Hillcrest. It's an all-guest-DJ night featuring John C (Bar Sinister) and Precursor (Fallout) in the main room. In the back room, DJ Synexx (Deadline) will be spinning old school and goth. It's also a CD-release party for the new Funker Vogt album, Blutzoll, which drops on the 26th, with your chance to win copies all night long, courtesy of Metropolis Records. Plus, I’ll be celebrating my birthday at the stroke of midnight as I host the festivities. Come and join the party!

Make sure you get enough sleep, because on Sunday it’s gonna get a little crazy. From the man who brought you last year's Industriacide Se7en party comes a pre-Halloween, post-natural disaster venture into the voodoo and bayou. As part of Sean Dietrich's 2010 book launch and art tour, the Office has allowed Sean to perform a remodel of their Wall Street-ish aura and convert it into something of a mix between … well, you’ll just have to see it for yourself. Copies of all of his new books will be available for sale and signing. DJs Adamnation, Precursor and Ambones will be spinning throughout the night. There will be live art from Sean and Billy Martinez, a voodoo shrine, plus lots of surprises and giveaways, including art, books, sketches and prints. Costumes are encouraged.
