Free party with 321 Stereo at Stage Bar and Grill on Friday

San Diego's favorite '80s modern alternative rockers, 321 Stereo, are celebrating their new CD's release with a free party on Friday.

The event at at the Stage Bar and Grill is designed as a benefit for the American Diabetes Association, with half of all the event proceeds being donated to that organization. The cause is one close to the hearts of the 2011 San Diego Music Award nominees for Best Pop act : 321's lead guitarist, Raj Rajasingh, is a Type 2 Diabetic.

Earlier this year, blogger Chris Maroulakos of OwlandBear.com posted in SoundDiego that 321 Stereo's "infectious brand of technicolor pop has been inspiring San Diegans to dust off their leg warmers and hit the dance floor. The band's friendly, communal vibe is reminiscent of the B-52s, and 321 Stereo's music is just as energetic."

Party guests on Friday could go home with goodies from any of the night's sponsors, which include Park Hyatt Aviara, T-Mobile, GoodOnYa Deli, McFaddens Saloon, the PB Shoreclub and the Zanzibar Cafe. One hundred and fifty gift bags were recently put on sale ($20) that feature CDs from all the bands -- including 321 Stereo's new release -- as well as a sampler from  Capricorn Studios, tickets for appetizers and desserts at Friday's bash, a drink ticket for the official afterparty at McFaddens Saloon, as well as discount coupons and vouchers from Gaslamp restaurants and shops. On Friday, a spokesman for 321 said that about 40 of the bags would be on sale at the event itself.

Providing support on Friday at the Fifth Avenue venue in the Gaslamp will be the Vain Transfer and Misc Ailments.
